(All of this was conducted in English - a language that Mr S understands poorly.) He used that document to acquire the Apple products, telling the supplier to send the bill to Mr Sedlacek.

They would play along with being filmed (just as Mr Sedlacek played along with being filmed) because they thought that Kalvin had some kind of bona fide reality show in the pipeline and that everything was somehow legit.
Oh, there are lots of things that little Karlton got up to in Prague. How I wish I'd known about this blog a little earlier. e.g. The crappy free news sheet came out every day in pdf form. I could have downloaded all his articles and we could have critiqued one a week.

Each daily edition of that was also issued as a PDF (I didn't even know what a PDF was in those days). When that folded, he was "headhunted" (snigger) by the monoglot editor of the www.idnes.cz website. But at least there, if you care to look, you can read the outraged readers' comments.
Korffing scholars will know much of this already. He just abused people's trust as a matter of course. The scam with Mr S*dl*cek is just an example that stands out - a humanitarian whose organisation trains disabled people in certain lines of work and then found them jobs so that they can live with dignity and self-respect. I clearly remember the video that he staged with him. At one point, he said "... but this isn't about me, it's about Mr S. and his wonderful work ..." Mr S. thought that he was hiring Korff to teach his trainees English, but he just watched on good-naturedly as Korff rambled on (because Mr S. doesn't speak English). At the end of the video they both signed a document that Mr S. thought was Korff's contract as an English teacher (for a nominal fee). What is was in fact was some kind of document that made it look as though Korff had the power to buy expensive electrical equipment on behalf of the foundation. I could never understand why it took them as much as six months before the penny dropped.

There was a member of my wife's side of the family who spent eight years in the uranium mines during the 1950s because he'd flown in the RAF during the War. (A common tale: such gallant men were deemed too free-spirited and independent-minded to be allowed to remain at liberty after the Communist takeover in 1948 and many of them met the same fate.) He died young and broken, of course, so I never met him. Colonel Kalvin Korff was spitting on his hero's grave.
